RICs are a type of open-fit hearing aid that use a thin plastic “micro” tube that extends from the body of the hearing aid (housed behind the ear) over the outer ear and into the ear canal.

Receiver-in-canal (RIC) hearing aids (for mild to moderate hearing loss) resemble BTE aids but are usually smaller and less visible. With these devices, the receiver rests inside your ear canal and contains the speaker, while a nearly-invisible microphone tube connects it to the processor sitting behind your ear.
